What to Expect on Your First Visit

Integrative therapy using visceral manipulation and myofascial/trigger point philosophy is a whole body, whole life approach where multiple factors throughout a person’s life contribute to the current level of vitality of the connective tissue and responses to stimuli in the nervous system. By identifying root causes of symptoms, a pathway to your goals of a healthy, pain-free life can be charted.

The session begins by listening to the history of your whole body and what your current goals are. Next I listen to the body tissues with my hands.  The fascia connects the entire body like a web so a tension pulling through the body may create pain at a site distant to where the underlying problem is. The quality of the fascial tissues and the responsiveness of the nervous system is also assessed. The first treatment will combine a variety of techniques based on what is found in evaluation.

Before leaving you will receive specific recommendations for what you can do in your daily life to support your body and remove stressors. Your home plan becomes a critical component in regaining control of your symptoms. At the next session we discuss what you experienced and the results of the life changes you are making. At this time a better prediction of how your body will respond can be made. It takes patience and determination, but incremental steps taken over time produce results that may have seemed elusive.
